Quickly, with feeling. 52 Hats in as many weeks? Impressive. Check it out here on this blog. A pumpkin patch of hats for newborn babies (so it was last year. It's still a good idea!). From Anthropologie Addict, there's this sheer black hat with matching embellishments.

Those are yo-yos...circles of brown silk/satin are cut, then sewn with a running around the edge with just the tiniest hem, then the thread is pulled tight.
The trick would be having the fabric not fray out.
The various sized yo-yos were probably attached to a buckram skullcap.
Thanks for sharing that...it has me itching to give the idea a whirl.
Yo-yos, yes! Aren't they pretty? It's amazing how just a different fabric makes the yo-yos looks so classy instead of ready for the next quilter.
